New accessories...

Two accessories... one for me and one for my iPod! Since a phone is in sight all day, every day, I better get myself a pretty cover to protect it. And it also makes me less annoyed with this phone - I have nearly no reception or internet with it and don't know what the problem is... aaargh! Stopping by Hi (my provider) tomorrow and hope they'll fix it.

What suits me

A little sneak preview... This midnight purple boyfriend blazer was a recent addition to my closet, and I bumped in to the matching tapered pants yesterday. I've never owned a two piece before, and although I probably like the items best individually it's kind of cool to have the option.

Sale season: round two

Like I said, I love combing through online shops when I have the time, especially during sale season. Nothing (in the shopping world) beats seeing an item you've been craving for, for half the price. Because I find it hard to contain myself during sale, I make wishlists and then pick favorites from that. Last week I shared my favorites from My wardrobe, this time I'm turning to ASOS, where sales have now also gone up to 50%. Which suddenly makes things very affordable - all four of these accessories are under €33 - something I think we all love.

ps. Good news: Asos has free world wide delivery! (Not until June, which I misread, but continuously :D)

Outfit: In the city

This nude/cream caftan flows with every step I take, which makes it perfect for twirling around. So that's exactly what I did when taking it out to the city. I like the movement in the butterfly wings and skirt, and yet it still shows some shape because it's tight at the waist. Will definitely be taking this versatile piece with me on my holiday next month - I can't wait!

Asos
kaftan dress
H&M heels
Club Manhattan star necklace
House of Harlow ring
American Apparel nail polish

What I'm up to

Vogue Collections f/w 2012 and Stella McCartney collection I once blogged about
here

Got some administration and work to do, but first I'm browsing through my brand new copy of Vogue Collections fall winter 2012 with green tea and fresh blueberries. Even though I'm pretty much glued to my Style.com app, I prefer holding a magazine to have a closer look at my favorite collections (seeing them on the runway would be even better, obviously).

Maison Martin Margiela resort

Another resort collection that I like: Maison Martin Margiela. All about length and a laid back simplicty with the perfect transition pieces.

Here's my submission for Illustration Friday's theme of "midsummer night"

illo_friday_midsummernight

This is a piece that I created for the Wide Awake Press comic book anthology Fall/Horror issue quite some time ago but I thought it was a fun little twist on the midsummer night theme :)

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Sale season: first favorites

Sale season has started and the big 4-letter signs on every window make me want to go straight to shopping. I haven't been able to do so yet, and to compensate I'm combing through the sale sections of my favorite online stores. The only bummer about that is that it usually takes forever. So I'm now listing my favorite sale finds in collages, that I might as well share. Starting today with My Wardrobe, where sale is already up to 50% (it seems like online shows are always earliest with giving half off, am I right?)

What are you looking at?
Acne darling dress (I have this in black and cream)
American vintage blouse
Dannijo iPhone case (I'm getting this one!)
Pour la victoire nude platforms
Mulberry mila in chestnut
Olivia Rubin paint splash dress
By Malene Birger draped jumpsuit
Vanessa Bruno Athe open knit
Acnehydro boot

on my nightstand

On my nightstand are two books by Danny Gregory. He’s the Author of  An Illustrated Life and Creative License.

Travel reading for my flight home

Danny is best known for his book Everyday Matters which he talks about how he started sketching as a way to cope when his wife was in a terrible accident that left her a paraplegic.

The focus of all his books is getting people to sketch/journal about their lives as a way of recording/journaling and mediation.

It’s a topic that keeps coming up for me. I want to sketch/journal on a regular/daily basis but then I never get around to it. "real work" gets in the way etc. Well this year I am determined to make it a habit. You'll be hearing more on myblog later about that!

If you like the idea of bringing more sketching into your life, check out this free ebook from Michael Nobbs (who also struggles with chronic fatigue like me!). What I love about his web site and blog is that he shows how to work art into your daily life in tiny and manageable amounts. Sign up for his newsletter for lots of good tips too!

Outfit: Between the lines

I hold Isabel Marant personally accounted for creating a craze around cropped red leather pants. Finally I own a pair and I think it will be a wardrobe staple next fall. Didn't want to post this yet though, because I wore leather pants in my previous outfit as well but hey... Sometimes you just wear some of the same things. I'm already glad I managed to shoot a few outfit shots :) I've been working as an editor 5 days a week - an amazing experience - and doing everything blog related after work hours and on weekends. I'm basically running my own little business next to a fulltime job and last week was too hectic to shoot. Soon things will slow down a little and I'll find some balance between these two things I love doing :) For now I'll keep posting pretty much every day like I already do and thanks for always coming back!
♥ Yara

PS. Did you already make a list with your 10 holiday essentials to win a trip to Portugal here? And did you agree with my items in the post? I really hope one of you wins the contest :D
