Fashion journal avec Paris

Being in Paris in spring makes me appreciate the beautiful city even so much more. It's a city so iconic, so varied and alive. Paris is really big and I've always found it quite difficult to get a grip on all the districts, but everything is slowly starting to fall in place. I was there for presentations with a few other fun Dutch journalists and I enjoyed my whirlwind stay just as much as two weeks ago. To be honest, I already want to go back and stroll by the water and historic buildings with my boyfriend. But let's focus on our next Asia trip first!

What are you looking at?
1) Just a random shot in Amsterdam
2) My favorite neighbourhood in Paris: le Marais
3) & 5) Concept store Merci is a must see
4) Getting my make up done at Yves Saint Laurent
6) Mail box
7) Time to shop

In over 2 years of blogging on This chick's got style, I can say I've had amazing experiences and made quite a few dreams come true. And I can now add a new big milestone: I passed 5.000 followers on Google Friend Connect AND 5.000 on Bloglovin! I always told myself I would celebrate that moment with my readers. And I'm sticking to it! After all, I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for YOU! - readers that stuck with me from the beginning and new readers. Huge thanks for your sweet words these past two years and for always coming back to see my daily posts! ♥

Celebrating this moment with me is Fashionology. One of my favorite jewelry stores on the web, known for their edgy, feminine designs, executed in silver and natural stones. I know I'm not their only fan - bloggers all over the world are wearing Fashionology items. And now you have a chance to do the same. Because Fashionology is giving away THREE 50 euro gift cards! Outfit: Ultraviolet

Silky tops in bright colors seem to become my wardrobe staple for spring. It all started with my neon green top (worn here) and last week I added this soft purple one from Modekungen (hard to resist on sale :P). The detail of the concealed buttons is something I personally love. Also... let me introduce you to my new Yves Saint Laurent clutch that I brought home from Paris last week. It feels so timeless and chic, and the size is just perfect for upcoming parties and events.

Meet the Maurie & Eve lookbook

This new Maurie & Eve lookbook has me convinced that I can no longer rest in the field of wardrobe stuffing until I've added some mustard pieces. (And I was already so much in to that color) The clothes in this lookbook are grown up, yet sexy and easy and I'm loving everything about it. Even though I might think of adding some emerald green, grey, purple and orange, it's almost like my perfect wardrobe.

Hope you are spending time with family and friends and don't forget the BBQ!

Some sweet shopping

Clicked home some items from my 'to get' list at Shopbop and found them on my doorstep just a few days later. First was a pair of office appropriate shorts - surprisingly these pure silk ones T by Alexander Wang shorts costed me just as much as my silk top from Zara. Then the tortoise sunnies I showed you here, a big cocktail ring from my last outfit post (I didn't have any gold rings!). And lastly a pair of 7 for All Mankind skinny jeggings. They look and feel like perfect dark grey skinnies but are a bit more elastic so they fit like a glove. Too bad I ordered them a bit too small... And getting a size up will cost me a lot of import taxes again. So just send me an e-mail if you're interested in those! (they are a size 27) :)

What did I get?
House of Harlow grey leather cocktail ring
7 for All Mankind grey skinny jeans/jeggings
Karen Walker turtoise deep freeze sunglasses
T by Alexander Wang black silk shorts

Outfit: Party time

When packing my bag for a short work related trip, I usually don't get experimental with clothes. I want to have a few options that I know I like and feel comfortable in. So that's why you've already seen this blouse and skirt a few posts back - nothing surprising there. I just paired it with my highest ankle boots, some gold jewelry, a clutch and leather jacket and voilĂ , I was out the door to the Diesel party at the phenomenal Manege de Grand Palais. Oh, and excuse the pictures, guys. It's not an outfit post, it's not a fashion journal post... It's just the best I've got to bring from a hotel room in just a few minutes, haha!

ps. I got a few e-mails, the room is in hotel Mama Shelter. A crazy, funky, cool place totally decorated by the famous interior designer Philippe Starck. I'd definitely recommend it.

Oh, Yves...

The past three days in Paris were unbelievable. Mostly because I got to see the office of Yves Saint Laurent himself. Still pretty unbelievable to me that I visited this place that so few will ever get a chance to see.  I wish I could have taken you with me through pictures, unfortunately but very understandable that wasn't allowed. His sophisticated assistant, who worked by his side for years and years, showed us around in his white office with a huge mirror and walls covered in books for inspiration. I stood by monsieur Yves Saint Laurent's desk, saw his unique personal belongings, his original design sketches in black pencil lines and designs he tried out by making them in cotton first. To experience his legacy and talent from so close, was a magical and special experience. And I'm so gratefull to have seen the place where YSL's creations came to life.

I left Paris with this small white bag with the brand's name printed on it. What's inside? You'll find out soon ;)

New sunnies

My new Deep Freeze sunglasses by Karen Walker. More pics after the jump!

During sunny days, my Wayfarers often make a guest appearance in outfit posts. To switch things up a little, and probably to compensate for the crappy weather lately ;) I ordered these sunnies by Karen Walker, one of my favorite brands for all sorts of fab frames. I went with a more square shape in turtoise because it's different from my black Wayfarers, yet still they kind of have a similar feel, don't you think?

Outfit: Just another jacket

Yet another jacket made it's way in to my closet. A more dressier one this time, that I like to style casually with boyfriend style denim shorts or a pair of jeans. Which is exactly what I did when I went on a dinner date with my boyfriend this Saturday, wearing this. (Too bad my top got a bit wrinkled from sitting in a car for hours before. Oh, well...)

On my way to Paris again

photo via blog.yanidel.com

After having been there just two weeks ago, I'm flying to Paris again on Monday morning! I'll be there for three days on another busy yet fun trip. It's not for my blog but I'm sure I'll be able to capture some shots, just like time (seen here and here). The weather is very expromising and I'll be enjoying this romantic place even more when the sun lights the entire city up. Bisous! Yara

H&M showroom: new Fall/Winter collection

H&M's new fall/winter collection in the showroom. Picture overload after the jump!

If one thing was remarkable at the presentation of H&M's fall/winter 2011-2012 presentation last week, it was the use of color. More specifically: the lack of black. Different sorts of warm hues - from burgundy to brick, to orange and tan - were predominant. Next to that I noticed retro influences in the high collars, over the knee lengths, prints and shapes. Although the clothes I personally wear are not usually that retro inspired, I love the look and feel. Besides, H&M always mixes different styles, so there were quite a few more modern silhouettes. Like the beautiful first dress (the neck is a silver chain), the choker necklaces and sleeveless blouse. What's your favorite piece here?
