Bernie you're amazing!!!

How you can help A Place to Bark

Donate just $5 or $10
will help save another life and go toward helping A Place to Bark finish the much needed indoor shelter!Even though Bernie has money in her 6 degrees badge that money is already accounted for in vet bills. I can not stress enough how expensive rehabbing these animals is. I know just from myself with our pets how quickly we can burn through money. Now imagine that times 500 dogs + kitties per year. Just feeding them alone costs a fortune! Every little bit that you can donate will help!!! These animals wouldn't be alive if it weren't for A Place to Bark!

Travel tales

Look at those cool scooter chairs!

I'm back! London was great. Beautiful weather, good shops and very nice restaurants and bars! Thanks so much for the good tips, I printed them out and they were extremely helpful!

Obviously we were very surprised to hear about MJ, especially since my boyfriend is a very big fan (he was also going to the concert in London). Also the trip back was very hectic, haha! We were still stuck in traffic by the time our gate closed! 15 minutes after that we were running through the airport like mad men (I even took off my shoes!) and were lucky enough to be given access to the plain. What an adventure!
I bought some very nice things, like the Topshop skirt in the first picture, a topshop skinny jeans, a zara T, a black zip skirt, a nailpolish, a very cute silver necklace by COS - that I've already lost :( - and some fashion magazines. I personally think the UK has (some of) the best fashion magazines! There will be some pictures of what I bought later!

stitching party!

Tomorrow I am headed over to the amazing Amy Powers' house for a day of embroidery with a bunch of fun gals!

I can hardly wait! I keep "saying" that I want to incorporate more needlework/sewing into my work and then I never actually get around to doing it -- maybe this will be just the push I need. We'll be making little sampler's like this one above. This photo is of Amy's work from her amazing blog. Check it out!

London calling!

Dear readers, I'm off to London! Super excited. For now, I wanted to show you my latest purchases. The shirt is inside out (that's not accidental, it was made that way) which gives such a fun touch. And these shorts have the perfect worn / bleached look. Since it will be very warm in London, according to the weather forecast, I'm taking these babies with me!

Thanks for always leaving such sweet comments and expect a big post when I get back!

Snake print is not for everyone, but I personally think it can be very nice when combined well. This blazer had been hanging in my closet for about two months. The weather didn´t allow me to wear it yet because the fabric is pretty thin. It has black leather lining, very cool.

illustration friday: drifting

Here is my entry for this week's illustration friday prompt of "drifting".

I actually have two pieces for this topic. This first one was the first idea that came to me:

hellmuth_illustrationfriday2

"they had no plans that day, they would just drift"

While I was working on the first piece, I got the idea for this next one! I left the background with just line drawing (I was too tired out to finish the piece) and then I decided that I liked it that way!

hellmuth_illustrationfriday1

"Alice noticed that Bob's eyes kept drifting away from her face."

It's been forever since I had time to create artwork for illustration friday! yay! glad to be back!

Look at choo

Jimmy Choo is the next guest designer to work with H&M! I couldn't be more excited. I love the belt! The collection hits the stores mid November.
.
ps. I'm going to London in a week! Do you know any nice places to eat or to have drinks? And good places to shop or something I should definately go see? I'd love to hear it!

transferring images using Claudine Hellmuth Studio Paints

Just about everyone has done a transfer using gel medium (or Multi- medium in my product line) but did you know you can transfer images directly into my Claudine Hellmuth Studio paints too?

Here's how:

First paint your surface using Claudine Hellmuth Studio paints in your favorite color - or mix a color yourself! Here, I am painting a 2x2" square of Sticky-back Canvas with Painterly Pink.

Press your photocopied image directly into the wet paint. Press gently to make sure there is good contact. Laser copies will work best for this technique - for example the copies you make at the Kinkos or Office Depot. Not the kind that come from your home inkjet copying machine. You use a color copy or a b/w copy, just keep in mind that your paint color that you choose will show through a little bit, so keep that in mind when you choose your copy and paint color! Also your image will be reversed when you transfer it, so if you have words make sure to flip the image in the copying machine.

Allow to dry completely. I prefer to let it dry for a couple hours. The #1 thing that can go wrong with this techqniue is not allowing it to dry all the way. Once dry then spray the back of the copy with water, I like to make a little puddle and let the water sit for a minute or two. You will start to see the paper go transparant.

Gently rub off the paper pulp with your fingers. Once all the paper pulp is removed your transfer is done!!

That's it! You have created a transfer into paint!

Can you keep a secret?

Yesterday was fun! My friend Jes and I went to a t-shirt presentation, sat on a rooftop terrace, grabbed some food and went to the movies. She told me about a place where they sell tiny silver ear studs so I bought a few. I also bought doubles (I know, I went a little crazy) because I always lose those little ones. The ring is a gift from my boyfriend, it's so cute!

I also got the book Post Secret. A guy named Warren asked people to make him a personal postcard with a secret they had never told anyone before. He received piles and piles of cards, and published some of them. It's dark, it's shocking and it's fun. Also check out Warrens website: http://www.postsecret.com/

ps
. Thank you for the awards and Look 10, thank you for featuring me!

let's hit the beach!

The beach is a common theme for my custom artwork orders and summer is here so I thought I'd share a few beachy pieces with you!

beach3LR

This piece was super fun to create! The client had photos of her daughter surfing in a 50's prom dress and wanted me to recreate the scene. She had a lot of friends and the trick was working every single one of them into the piece! She was a legend at the beach the day she surfed in that prom dress!

beach1LR

Father and son at the beach, with one of their favorite beachy treats - an ice cream cone! This order was created as a Father's Day gift.

All that glitters is not gold

As I promised yesterday, here is an outfit with my new sequin blazer. I decided to glam rock the hell out of it, pairing it with leather leggings, a long white t and my mom's patent DSquared buckle booties.

Kiss and make-up

Someone asked me how I do my make up, so I thought it might be nice to show you my daily products & routine.

1) Lightly I brush i.d. BareMinerals facial powder in color Fairly light over my face.
2) Then I use a MAC eyeshadow as bronzer. Unusual, but it's the perfect color for me :P .
3) Third I use Ariane Inden cover stick if I need it.
4) Next, I put on L'oréal Collagene mascara and black eyeliner
.
5) Depending on my mood I make a more natural brown smokey eye with a Dior shadow palette (Earth reflection) or a darker black and grey one with a Rimmel London palette (Smokey noir).
6) I often use a small amount of highlighter above my cheekbones and some blusher on my cheeks, but I forgot those at my parents place.
7) Then some more mascara and I often finish with lip balm or a deep pink or nude gloss, this one from h&m is a perfect nude and incredibly cheap!

ps. tomorrow I´ll probably make an outfit with the sequin blazer!

sticky-back canvas giveaway!

Let's have a giveaway!

This giveaway is for 1 pack of my 8.5 x 11 Claudine Hellmuth Studio Sticky-back canvas. Just leave a comment on this blog post and you'll be entered to win! I'll choose a winner using the random.org number generator on Monday June 15th at 5pm!

And for a little inspiration, here's a T-shirt that I embellished using Claudine Hellmuth Studio Paints and Sticky-Back canvas.
(T-shirt not included in giveaway)

stickyback_t

Here's how I made it! I bought a T-shirt from Target - my favorite place to shop! And embellished using my Claudine Hellmuth Studio acrylic paints Sticky-Back canvas. After I painted the Sticky-Back canvas I cut it into shapes and sewed them to the T-shirt with my sewing machine. You can sew it - it doesn't gum up the needle! And it holds up in the washer. Just turn it inside out and put it in a mesh bag to protect it in the machine, then lay flat to dry! You can iron lightly once dry to smooth out anything that need to be flattened again. I washed this shirt with my regular laundry, jeans etc and it was fine!

More inspiration of what you can create with Claudine Hellmuth Studio products here!

Leave a comment below and be entered to win 1 free pack of Sticky-Back canvas so you can create your own projects!

Colony of beetles whose carnivorous appetite help to clean the bones on display in the Museum.
Once the flesh has disappeared, the bones are removed from the bug room and soaked in water for a period. The non-bone material is then scraped off with a scalpel, and each bone is dipped in bleach and meticulously numbered. The whole skeleton is catalogued before it is put on display, or placed among the 45,000 other bird specimens in the ROM’s vast collection.

Birthday beauties

Yesterday was great! It was a really nice birthday with very good presents, like this sequin blazer from Zara. It reminds me of those gorgeous Balmain blazers that I wish I could afford. The color is darker, but the camera flash made it light up.

There will be an outfit very soon, but I'm at my parents place for a few days :)
The little bag is also from Zara, that was a gift from myself ;) Also, I passed all of my exams! Hope you had a great weekend too!
