Here's a recent set of illustrations that I finished for The Community Associations Institute's Magazine.
The article was all about neighborliness (or lack there of) so this is what I created for the cover.
And here's a piece for the inside spread complete with nosy neighbor looking over the fence :)
I had so much fun creating these illustrations! Great theme and I got to play with all my favorite colors too!

I was excited to get the chance to create another Illustration for The Saturday Evening Post. My last one was about Charles Osgood and this article was about a couple that decided to spend a year living frugally.
It was a fun concept to illustrate! Here's a peek at the article and one of the four illustrations I created for the article.
I have some VERY exciting news! It has been killing me to keep this a secret but now that everything has been made official I can share!
After about nine months of hoping, creating, contacting, meetings, sending in samples, calls, e mails, brainstorming, more wishing, hoping, and dreaming ..... Demdaco (easily the number one gift company in the US) has offered me a Licensing Agreement and is going to manufacture a gift product line with my artwork and illustrations!
I can't share the details just yet but we have some very fun, inventive and exciting ideas! If all goes as planned we'll launch in January 2012! I'll keep you posted!
Last week i finished up a few illustrations for The Saturday Evening Post. I thought it might be a fun chance to try out some new pens that I got from Jet Pens. I am a pen addict and I am always in search of the perfect pen for line drawing.
I got a few brush type pens but my favorite was the UniBall Signo bit 0.18. It makes a nice juicy line and I love how the ink flows!
Here I am working out the line art. Once that is done the drawing gets scanned in and color and pattern added in Photoshop. I can't show you the finished illustrations yet ... but as soon as the magazine is out I'll post a photo.
I usually prefer to work all by hand but when doing illustration it is so much easier to work in Photoshop so I can quickly make changes. I still haven't been able to switch to drawing the lines on a tablet. So instead I draw on tracing paper which scans in nicely.
I still love my Faber Castell Pitt pens for doing ink work on top of paint and canvas, but it was fun to try something new for drawing on paper!
