Topshop at SPRMRKT

Visited the Topshop shop in shop at SPRMRKT this week. I was already setting up a little imaginary shopping fund when I heard Topshop was coming to Amsterdam. Unlucky for me it is a store in store with a small selection of the clothes. Nonetheless, it's a good start, and the party was really nice. And knowing the brands at SPRMRKT, I trust their taste in making good picks. Now let's hope that soon we'll be celebrating a huge 4 story Topshop in our city!

Oh, Yves...

The past three days in Paris were unbelievable. Mostly because I got to see the office of Yves Saint Laurent himself. Still pretty unbelievable to me that I visited this place that so few will ever get a chance to see.  I wish I could have taken you with me through pictures, unfortunately but very understandable that wasn't allowed. His sophisticated assistant, who worked by his side for years and years, showed us around in his white office with a huge mirror and walls covered in books for inspiration. I stood by monsieur Yves Saint Laurent's desk, saw his unique personal belongings, his original design sketches in black pencil lines and designs he tried out by making them in cotton first. To experience his legacy and talent from so close, was a magical and special experience. And I'm so gratefull to have seen the place where YSL's creations came to life.

I left Paris with this small white bag with the brand's name printed on it. What's inside? You'll find out soon ;)

On my way to Paris again

After having been there just two weeks ago, I'm flying to Paris again on Monday morning! I'll be there for three days on another busy yet fun trip. It's not for my blog but I'm sure I'll be able to capture some shots, just like time (seen here and here). The weather is very expromising and I'll be enjoying this romantic place even more when the sun lights the entire city up. Bisous! Yara

Me and Mario Testino!

Basically this picture features me, Mario Testino and my mouth. Too much? Mais non! I was in Paris, next to a legendary photographer who I happen to adore. A huge, proud grin seems to be in place ;) Mario was so kind and even checked to see if the pictures were good enough (followed by 'I have a big head, no?') I felt like such a lucky girl and did a little dance in my beautiful hotel room when I got back from the party this Tuesday.

At Filippa K birthday bash

 Visited Filippa K's 10th anniversary party this week. The event was held in one of their stores, filled with pretty clothes. Since I'm trying (emphasis on trying) to stick with a shopping method of buying one high quality item rather than two or three cheaper ones, it's exactly the kind of clothing I'm interested in. Pretty, clean basics in special colors. Lots of knits and stripes (which, next to polka dots are my weakness). Really wish I had the yellow knit jumper and  the nude and pink striped top in my closet! I had actually been to the store to try them both on before. Unfortunately for me, those are not an option right now because... I just booked a ticket for this summer holiday!

What's new

It's the week of press days! I couldn't make it to all the agencies I had planned, but managed to visit two great ones that are near my appartment: Spice PR and Cream PR. Spotted a lot of dark grey and black, natural prints, fur, sandy tones and bright knits. Always nice to know what will be in stores soon, to stay up to date and run in to my friends.

At the Acne presentation

This Tuesday I visited the presentation of Acne’s latest autumn-winter collection and once again Acne rightfully proved itself as one of my favorite brands. The way they succeed in making basic pieces interesting with their unusual cuts, colors and fabrics is something I simply always fall for.

This time Acne showed a grown up color palette. With mustard, cobalt blue, soft pink, burgundy – and of course their signature black and grey. Next to boxy aviator jackets, lots of 7/8th length pants there were voluminous skirts and flowy pants with high side slits. Sexy in an understated way.

Acne’s Jarno Harbers explained to me that Jonny Johansson found inspiration for his designs in the girls working in his studio’s, and the creative atmosphere there. And the two piece knits, mature colors and collarless jackets were a nod to the forties. Swoon. I better start saving!

London Fashion Week diary

 It's odd how London Fashion Week was just one week ago and now I'm back in Amsterdam and have my head filled with things to do and work (all fun though). I took a lot of pictures there: it's fun to document some good memories and being able to browse through every now and then.
