Givenchy resort

Givenchy's resort 2012 collection is an interesting take on the statement floral prints and tribal influences we've seen other big brands doing. Riccardo Tisci was inspired by Hawaiian surf culture and took pictures of flowers and then digitally manipulated them to create these prints (I'm particularly loving the printed pencil skirts).

Color clash

Bambi Northwood-Blyth is one of those girls that's on everyone's radar at the moment. She's sweet with an edge and something about her always draws me in, in the most effortless way. This editorial by Tim Barber in Muse magazine is so whimsical because of the backdrops, the mysterious light and unique colors. I can stare at it for hours - it makes me feel like running off on an adventure.

Meet the Maurie & Eve lookbook

This new Maurie & Eve lookbook has me convinced that I can no longer rest in the field of wardrobe stuffing until I've added some mustard pieces. (And I was already so much in to that color) The clothes in this lookbook are grown up, yet sexy and easy and I'm loving everything about it. Even though I might think of adding some emerald green, grey, purple and orange, it's almost like my perfect wardrobe.

H&M showroom: new Fall/Winter collection

If one thing was remarkable at the presentation of H&M's fall/winter 2011-2012 presentation last week, it was the use of color. More specifically: the lack of black. Different sorts of warm hues - from burgundy to brick, to orange and tan - were predominant. Next to that I noticed retro influences in the high collars, over the knee lengths, prints and shapes. Although the clothes I personally wear are not usually that retro inspired, I love the look and feel. Besides, H&M always mixes different styles, so there were quite a few more modern silhouettes. Like the beautiful first dress (the neck is a silver chain), the choker necklaces and sleeveless blouse. What's your favorite piece here?

Zara May lookbook

While checking if the minidress I'm lusting over is finally restocked at the Zara online store (which it isn't - it seems as though they never restock, am I right?) I noticed their May lookbook. I like seeing it online first, to see if it's worth a visit. Some things look great (hel-lo ikat pants and glitter stiletto's!), in particular the prints and fabrics. Those tribal, animal and kimono style prints can be so chic and classy and Zara executed them well. However the lookbook does come across a bit stiff, maybe because I'm not really feeling the model. What are your thoughts?

Pamela Love for Topshop line

I came across the first images of the Pamela Love jewelry collection for Topshop and wanted to share them with you. As you could read here I'm a fan of hers, so I was looking forward to this. Secretly I had hoped for a few more silver pieces that are a little less detailed... It makes sense though that she didn't want to copy pieces from her line and create another big spike cuff or knuckle ring or something. The feathered jewelry is my favorite. I'm curious how you feel about the collection, that ranges between around 50 and 120 pounds, and what your favorite piece is. Thoughts?

Lovely

I came across this FW11-12 collection from altewai.saomes. Wasn't familiar with the brand, until I laid eyes on it on another blog and felt intrigued by the clothes (although the model doesn't look too pleased with them :P). Now I even more want a dress with leather sleeves like the gray/blue-ish one in the middle.

At the Acne presentation

This Tuesday I visited the presentation of Acne’s latest autumn-winter collection and once again Acne rightfully proved itself as one of my favorite brands. The way they succeed in making basic pieces interesting with their unusual cuts, colors and fabrics is something I simply always fall for.

This time Acne showed a grown up color palette. With mustard, cobalt blue, soft pink, burgundy – and of course their signature black and grey. Next to boxy aviator jackets, lots of 7/8th length pants there were voluminous skirts and flowy pants with high side slits. Sexy in an understated way.

Acne’s Jarno Harbers explained to me that Jonny Johansson found inspiration for his designs in the girls working in his studio’s, and the creative atmosphere there. And the two piece knits, mature colors and collarless jackets were a nod to the forties. Swoon. I better start saving!
